Our Story
This ministry was born at the intersection of faith, professional experience in gender-based violence, and a deep commitment to the church’s call to protect the vulnerable. What began as a final assignment for an Old Testament seminary course with Dr. Anna Marsh transpired into a Bible study at Messiah Lutheran Church in Columbus, Ohio. A question emerged from that class: How can churches faithfully respond to abuse?

In 2024, this ministry was selected for a Lutheran SEEDS Fellowship through Luther Seminary, which grew the ministry to include other safe church initiatives to meet the needs of ELCA churches. To date, Unnamed No More has partnered with Lutheran faith communities to include 40 ministry workshops, workshops, Bible studies and sermons breaking the silence over abuse, exploitation, and sexual violence.

At its heart, this ministry supports faith communities to name harm honestly, respond with accountability, and center the voices of those impacted by abuse. In doing so, it reflects the church's distinct mission to embody Christ's call to protect, care for, and uphold the dignity of all people.

Mission: Equipping church leaders and faith communities to engage in theological reflection and faithful actions over the harms of elder abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual violence.

Vision: A world where every church is a sanctuary of safety and healing for those affected by gender-based violence (GBV) embracing our Christian calling to protect, care for, and uphold the dignity of all people.
